The Hive review: Bedrock minigames for phone, console and Windows

An editorial overview of the largest Bedrock minigames network in our catalogue: modes, player counts, joining from phone and console, pros and cons.

Important: this is an editorial overview by Minecraft-Servera, not an advertisement. It relies on our monitoring data as of 28 October 2026 and well-known facts about Bedrock Edition. Live numbers are on the server page.

In short

The Hive is a minigames network for Bedrock Edition only: Minecraft on phones, tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and the Windows version from the Microsoft Store. It is the busiest Bedrock server in our catalogue: about 12.2k players were online when we checked on 28 October, and the highest count we have recorded is 12,663.

Game modes

The Hive is about short matches lasting a few minutes. Categories and tags in our catalogue list BedWars, SkyWars, Murder Mystery and Hide and Seek. At the time of writing the server's MOTD mentions the "HIVE-O-WEEN" Halloween event and BedWars season 5. Rules of the popular modes are in the Minigames guide.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • a big player base — matches fill quickly;
  • works on phones and consoles, including where you can't type in your own server address (see below);
  • short matches — handy for playing on a phone during breaks;
  • no Java licence needed: a free Microsoft account is enough for Bedrock multiplayer.

Cons:

  • players on PC Java Edition can't join;
  • interface and chat are in English;
  • it's minigames, not long-term survival — for your own world with friends try SMP servers.

How to join

Phone, tablet, Windows (Bedrock):

  1. Play → Servers tab.
  2. The Hive is one of Minecraft's featured partner servers, so you can usually pick it right there.
  3. If it isn't listed, use Add Server with address geo.hivebedrock.network and port 19132.

Consoles: Xbox, PlayStation and Switch don't let you add arbitrary servers, but featured partner servers such as The Hive are available in the Servers tab.

A step-by-step guide with common errors is in How to join from phone or console, and the difference between editions is in Java or Bedrock. More phone-friendly servers are in the Bedrock / play on phone collection.
